What we use

We use Microsoft Clarity, an analytics tool that shows how visitors use the site (which pages get read, where people click, where they leave). It helps us make the site better. That is the only third party tool on substant.nu.

Only after you accept

When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice. Clarity loads only if you choose "Accept all". If you choose "Only necessary", nothing that tracks you is loaded, and no analytics cookies are set.

What Clarity collects

Pages viewed, clicks, scrolls, and your device and browser type, plus an approximate location derived from your IP address. Clarity can also record a masked replay of the session to show how pages are used. The data is processed by Microsoft under its privacy statement. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to identify you.

Changing your mind

You can reopen the choice at any time with Cookie settings. Clearing this site's data in your browser also resets it.

The Refract app is separate

This policy covers the substant.nu website only. Our macOS app, Refract, collects nothing at all: no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. Its full policy is on the privacy page.
